Action Shotgun Match
Important: The Range is now permanently closed. The match at this location is canceled.
Location: Dates: First Saturday of Each Month
Time: Approximately 11:30 AM after Combat Pistol.
Fees: $8.00
Match is open to both club and non-club members.
Course of Fire: Varies from month to month. The average course of fire requires 30 to 35 rounds.
Firearms: Shotguns of any caliber are permitted and may be semi-auto or pump. The shotgun must be serviceable and safe.
No optical sights are permitted. Magazine extensions are permitted but not protrude more than one (1”) inch past the muzzle.
The Same shotgun will be used throughout the match.
Ammunititon: May be factory or reloads. Shot size is limited to 7 ˝, 8 or 9 shot. Slugs may be required at times.
Range Safety:
Eye and Hearing Protection is mandatory.
This will be a “cold” range. All shotguns will remain unloaded until directed by the Range Officer to load and make ready.
Shooters must keep the muzzle pointed down range in the target area. When side movement is required, the muzzle shall not break the 180 degree plane. Failure to comply will lead to disqualification.
All new competitors may be required to show proficiency with their Shotgun (s). This includes, but is not limited to the following: Safe Firearm handling, Loading and unloading the firearm, and knowledge of the firearm's functions.
General Information:
The normal ready position for the shotgun will be the port arms position unless otherwise specified.
Spare ammunition may be carried in the support hand but Not placed into the magazine or chamber until at least one (1) round has been fired.
Sportsmanship: All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsman like manner. Unsportsmanlike conduct is grounds for disqualification from competition.
