NRA Approved Highpower Rifle Tournament

Location:

Dates: 2nd Saturday of the Month.

Time: Competition starts at 8:30 AM. Be there before 0715. All Competitors must be on the firing line, or in position as scorekeepers and target pullers at that time. The match should be complete by approximately 3:00 PM.

Entry Fees will be accepted at the match, prior to 8:00 AM. The cost is $17.00 (NRA Registration Fee of $4.50 plus Match fee of $12.50). "NRA Points" are not acceptable.

Pre-entries may be mailed c/o HIGHPOWER CHAIRMAN at the range address and must include the entry fee. They must be received at least one week prior to the match. Confirmation will be made only if a stamped, Self-addressed envelope is included, or by E-mail to a valid E-mail address. Make checks payable to the San Gabriel Valley Gun Club. Pre-entrants must appear by 8:00 AM to assure squadding. Cancellations must be made by mail or e-mail and must be received at least 1 day prior to the match. Phone entries will not be accepted. Late entries will be accepted only to facilitate match operations. A $2.00 charge will be made for no-shows. Refunds not picked up at one of the next two matches will be donated to the club rifle match fund.

Entry Limits: Entries are limited to 40 competitors, consisting of 3 or 4 relays.

Eligibility: Entries are open ONLY to members of the National Rifle Association. NRA membership applications will be available and accepted on match day.

Course of Fire: The National Match Course, with a maximum range of 300 Yards and 2 sighting shots at each stage.

10 shots Standing at 200 yards, slowfire (SR target), 10 shots Sitting From Standing at 200 yards, rapid fire (60 seconds, SR target); 10 Shots Prone from Standing at 300 yards, rapid fire (70 Seconds, SR-3 Target); and 20 shots Prone at 300 yards, slow fire (MR-63 target).

Rules: Current NRA Highpower Rules will apply. Exception: Rule 14.15 -a 1 1/2", 1" or smaller spotter will be used to mark shots for the 300 Yards, slow-prone stage unless a larger one is requested by the Shooter. Open Bolt indicators must be used. These can be purchased at The match for $1.00. The range requires that hearing and eye protection be used. No steel core, steel jacketed, tracer, armor piercing or Incendiary ammunition may be used.

Targets/Scoring: Competitors will pull targets in the pits and act as scorekeepers on the firing line. Challenge fee is $2.00. Competitors withdrawing early must secure a replacement for target/scoring duties.

Categories: There will be a Service Rifle category (Rule 3.1, 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 3.1.5) and a NRA Match Rifle Category (Rule 3.3 and 3.3.1. Categories will not be combined for awards.

Classification: The NRA classification system (Rule 19.0) will be used. At least 2 competitors are required to form a class. If there are insufficient competitors in a class, they will be moved into the next higher class. If the highest class does not contain sufficient entries, those competitors will shoot for match or category winner awards only.

Awards: Cash awards, for the aggregate only, will be given based on the number of entries. Awards will be given to the Match Winner, the high scorer in the category opposite that of the Match Winner, and each class winner in each category. Second place class awards will be given if there are at least 4 entrants, Third place for 6 entrants and Fourth place for 8 entrants.

Awards not picked up at the match, or at one of the next two matches will be donated to the club rifle match fund.

Results Bulletin: Competitors desiring a Results Bulletin must provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
